Kind2Hearing’s vision is to bring Hearing Healthcare to the public in the most accessible and comfortable setting. By doing so, we make it easy for people to enquire and learn about hearing and hearing problems, and therefore we have situated most of our practices in a retail setting. Kind2Hearing Faerie Glen, situated in the Pick ‘n Pay Hypermarket, is our flagship practice, and opened its doors in 2008. Currently we are one of 15 practices across the country, which also makes it easier to get access to our services, even if you travel frequently.
Hearing all those rich and beautiful sounds of life’s everyday living, is something most people take for granted. Suddenly a person may realize that people often have to repeat themselves and that the clarity of sounds are not the same that they use to be, especially in noisy situations, as hearing has become a problem. Communication becomes more difficult as one can see and hear people talking, but not what they are saying. This can lead to feelings of social isolation and being “shut out” in individuals suffering from hearing loss.
At Kind2Hearing Faerie Glen we strive to address your hearing difficulties with excellence, and by doing so, improve your overall quality of life.
What can you expect when you visit Kind2Hearing Faerie Glen
At our practice our main purpose is to educate you, and help you through a process that involves reviewing results, taking into account your listening needs and making recommendations based upon the hearing evaluation results. The process involves the following:
Interview: Following the interview, your audiologist will inspect your ears with an otoscope to assess whether or not your hearing problems may be related to external obstructions such as ear wax. If the ear canals are clear, a comprehensive audiological evaluation is then conducted.
Evaluation: After the evaluation has been completed, your audiologist will review the findings with you and if desired, any family members that are present. Your audiologist will explain the results of the test and its relationship to hearing, speech, and environmental sounds.
Diagnosis: If a hearing loss has been diagnosed, we will discuss the prospect of obtaining help through the use of hearing aids and/or assistive listening devices. Factoring in your needs and lifestyle, we will recommend options for appropriate types and styles of hearing aids that are available and best-suited for your needs.
Hearing Aids
Audiologists are highly trained health care professionals specializing in disorders of the auditory and vestibular system and the treatment thereof. They also have an extensive knowledge on hearing aids which enables them to professionally recommend the correct hearing aid for a specific type and level of hearing loss. We have audiologists working in all our practices nationally. This ensures that our clients receive only the best professional help in the testing processes and selection options.
The purpose of a hearing aid is to improve your hearing and to help one to hear better. With the incredible advancement in electronics, hearing aids are cleverly engineered to be adjustable in picking up and amplifying specific sounds from the environment. It can be set to amplify those sounds or pitch that the person can’t hear. This helps a person to hear better, improves communication and brings the laughter back into one’s life. It also comes in a neat little package that is moulded to fit snugly into and/or behind the ear. This also diminishes its visibility.
To assist our patients in making a better choice, we have 3 different brands of hearing aids to choose from. The audiologist will recommend the appropriate hearing aid for the patient, and begin the journey to better hearing with the patient. We do not believe in a “hit and run” approach, but highly value the journey. Therefore the relationship between the audiologist and the patient is of great importance.
